Q: When did you come to China for the first time?

Q: How do you see the robot to bring changes in our lives?

A: technology plays an important role in social change, the most typical example of this was the industrial revolution, the robot is no exception. Q: you have many Chinese students should be taught, how do you evaluate them?

A: I don’t see the difference between Chinese students and others. We are recruiting the most talented students, Chinese students the same smart, entrepreneurial, hard working, ambitious, I have quite a few Chinese students, two of them to teach in the University and the other in Xinjiang now, they have good development in different fields.

Q: your Chinese students returned to China after graduation or stay in the United States?

A: I think a lot of students are willing to go back to China, because there are a lot of opportunities.

Q: do you think what kind of opportunities do you have?

A: flying robot for commercial use there is still a lot of opportunity. Many talented people have to join them, it requires a supply chain, flying robots, power systems, operating systems, electrical components, such as different aspects of cooperation, but there are opportunities in every area. Q: I’m not sure the reason behind this, but we should be from a development point of view, Rome was not built in a day. I mean, most people on the progress in the field of robot may not know, when they suddenly see a new technology, they will make their eyes bright feel. Q: you show you thing called “rotorcraft”, so it seems to you, flying robots and popular understanding of “drones” (Drones) what would be the difference?

A: for me the difference is, first of all, the drones are often the kind of military we said, large UAVs, and our flying robot body is small and, secondly, the drone is very clumsy, and the robot is clever. But to the public, the market does not (flying robot, this military drones and rotor consumer-level drone) make a clear distinction.

Q: what does do a little?

A: If small enough to fly faster, without fear of collision. Also more secure.

Q: but we see unmanned aerial vehicle products in the market, they are usually larger than your flying robots, nor showing your flying robot that level of dexterity.

A: that’s because the starting point is different, our research will focus on safety, first aid, agricultural and other applications. Next month, we will go to the Fukushima (accident), unmanned probes. Our flying robots will be smaller, safer, more intelligent, more quickly, and be able to work together. It’s like four people to lift a table, you don’t need to tell everyone they need where punches, lift tables, how to coordinate their hands all this flying robot can complete.

Q: I think that scientific research and market there is always a gap. For example, Lily, when we see that Lily can fly, they will have a “Wow” feeling, but in fact your students in your 2012 TED presentation Daniel will give you the same action.

Q: how cooperation between you and the industry?

A: we work with companies in many industries have. For example, Xinjiang, an informal Adviser we are their investment funds, we get free samples from Xinjiang, purchased from their motors, propellers, etc; another of our key partners are high, I have students working in Qualcomm, Qualcomm will bring us to provide special funds for scientific research.

Q: in your opinion, mobile phone chip manufacturers such as Qualcomm why so interested in flying robots?

A: Qualcomm doing this thing is not surprising. Millet, Huawei is also going to do, if you look at the future of computing, this is the same logic: the future is not the mobile phone world, but the world of robots. We may be through phone calls, the future could be machine to machine communication, exchange of my robot and me, then my robot and the robot exchanges, and finally your robot and communicate with you, and not necessarily is said to be holding a cell phone message. Q: you and the United States drone manufacturers, such as 3D Robotics glove?

A: No. I know some of them, but in the United States, we primarily and Qualcomm, not working with producers, we can purchase hardware from DJI products, and the software depends on cooperation with Qualcomm.

Q: the drones appear in other application areas like Xinjiang, the Unicorn company? Which areas?

A: there will be. But I am not able to determine in which areas, large parts of Xinjiang are caught the user demand for photography, but five years ago, I did not know that Xinjiang will grow as a Unicorn company, I think that technology advances at a rapid pace, it makes it difficult for us to that conclusion.

A: population growth, cultivated area decreased due to changes in weather, natural disasters, pests can lead to food crises. Q: Yes, but for most farmers, the drone is too complicated.

A: Yes, but they can use drone as an outsourced service.

If I’m a farmer, I would like to know which plants need more water, which suffered a plant pests and diseases. Q: just enter the robot researchers and entrepreneurs in the industry, what’s your advice?

A: the robot is an interesting area, the only challenge is that this is an area without borders, I cannot tell them, you should study this concern that because the borders in the changing dynamics of the robot. You need to keep an open mind, and sensitive to new opportunities every day to learn–I’m still learning, but system is changing so fast, and you need to remind yourself: there are many things that I don’t know.
